About the Conference

On behalf of The Operational Research Society, the University of Leeds is honoured to be hosting the 34th European Conference on Operational Research in 2025. Offering a warm Yorkshire welcome, we are delighted to make the 50th Anniversary of EURO a memorable experience for all.

The UK has a significant history and influence in the field of Operational Research (OR). Originating during World War II, OR was developed in Britain to address complex military logistics and strategy problems. Post-war, it played a pivotal role in decision-making and strategy, helping to solve complex problems through the innovative use of mathematics and science. British universities, particularly institutions like the University of Leeds, have been instrumental in advancing OR research and education, fostering innovations that drive efficiency and decision-making processes in both public and private sectors. The University of Leeds is a prestigious institution known for its research excellence and provides an ideal setting for the EURO 2025 conference. Located in the heart of Leeds, the university boasts state-of-the-art facilities and a vibrant academic environment that will inspire and facilitate engaging discussions and collaborations. We have a truly global community, with more than 39,000 students from 170 different countries and over 9,000 staff of 100 different nationalities.

While we delve into the intricacies of algorithms and analytics, let’s not forget to enjoy the charm of Leeds. Whether it’s exploring the historic city centre or enjoying a cup of Yorkshire tea, we hope your stay will be both intellectually stimulating and personally enjoyable.
